As a burgeoning field that brings together the human experience of health and illness through critical thinking and creative methods in the arts and humanities, it presents enormous potential to prepare a diverse healthcare workforce and to improve the wellbeing of all people. In the past twenty years, college programs have grown dramatically (over 150 currently in North America) and medical schools increasingly include humanities education. In healthcare settings, patient satisfaction and quality of care are strongly linked to humanistic practices. Health humanities has a central role in meeting the needs of learners, clinicians, and patients.

Meet Dr. Berry
I am a consultant and program facilitator focusing on health justice and equity. I have worked with interprofessional teams, clinicians, and providers across the spectrum of the healthcare industry to deliver professional training and strategies for equitable care. As a professional educator for twenty-five years, I’ve been a leader in developing the field of health humanities, serving as an inaugural member and current co-president of the Health Humanities Consortium. My work includes program design and assessment for private and public schools at the baccalaureate, graduate, and professional levels.
As a consultant, I prize relationships and support your team, collaborating with you to optimize assets as well as identify growth areas. I specialize in tailoring programs and training to your region and community needs.
